The Fifty Plus Club of Chester
The Fifty Plus Club is open to those 50 years of age and older living in Chester Township, Chester Boro and Washington Township. Meetings are held at 11 am on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month January through November at the Community Presbyterian Church on East Main Street in Chester.
We offer a varied program of covered dish luncheons, picnics, white elephant sale, birthday party and many interesting programs and speakers in addition to bowling and miniature golf days. Non-members are accepted for trips on a space-available basis. Trips for lunch and show at Centenary College will be scheduled in the spring and fall as dates become available.
Senior Resource Center (SRC)
Serving Chester, Mendham, Long Valley and surrounding communities. The SRC provides assistance to people who are overwhelmed by the complexity of the issues and challenges of aging. Help is available in the following areas - information & referral, advocacy, support services, education & training and healthy seniors program. Attention Seniors
All area seniors 60+ are invited on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Community Presbyterian Church (Chester Midday Friendship Center), 220 Main Street in Chester for a hot and nutritious lunch. Along with great food you can join in activities including bingo, movies, sing-alongs, arts and crafts, guest speakers, health screenings and educational programs. Senior Citizen Transportation Schedule

Requests are filled on a first-come, first-served basis
- Service to Chester, Mendham and surrounding area: Pick Up 10:00 am and Return by 2:00 pm
- Shop Rite and Local Destinations Scheduled every Wednesday, unless otherwise indicated
- Transportation to the Midday Friendship Nutrition Site at the Presbyterian Church on Tuesday and Thursday, Pick Up 10:30am and Return 12:30 pm
- Service to Roxbury shopping district the 1st Monday of each month
- Transportation to Morristown on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month
- Medical Appointments may be set on the 3rd Monday of the month within our service area, other than Morristown
- Schedule is Subject to Change
Limited to Chester Borough and Chester Township residents, 60 years of age and older. Driving time is always approximated. No van transport on school holidays or when the public schools are closed due to inclement weather. Special events may alter the schedule. The transportation is NOT handicapped accessible.
You must remain at scheduled location for pick-up. If you do not need a ride home, please let the driver know. If the bus driver is sick or having van problems, the trips will be cancelled and you will be notified. If you must miss the final trip, you are responsible for your own transportation.
Please have the following information available when calling for a ride: Name, Address, Telephone Number, Date and Time for Pick Up, and Destination. If you are going to a Doctor’s appointment, please supply the Doctor’s name & Telephone Number.
Senior Transportation Vehicle Policies
Chester Township Senior Transportation is available for the use of senior citizens, 60 years of age and older living in the Township of Chester.
It operates Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm within a 10 mile radius from the center of Chester. Occasional recreational trips may be scheduled at the discretion of the coordinators.
Every effort is made to adhere to pick-up and drop-off times, but traffic and other unforeseen problems may delay the driver. Passengers are asked to cooperate by being at the scheduled stop on time.
Scheduling is done daily by the coordinators with one week notice for Monday medical appointments. All other rides must be scheduled 48 BUSINESS HOURS IN ADVANCE, by calling (908) 879-5100 EXT 390 between 9 AM to 2 PM. NO EXCEPTIONS. Please note that passengers are limited to one destination per day.
Senior transportation will not be available on school holidays or when the public schools are closed due to inclement weather.
The driver must remain with the vehicle and cannot be responsible for passenger safety when the destination is reached. Any passengers deemed at risk by the driver for safety reasons may be asked to utilize an assistant.
Passengers are required to wear seatbelts when the vehicle is in motion. A notice to this effect is posted in the vehicle and the municipalities cannot assume responsibility for passengers who fail to comply.
Storage space is limited and passengers are asked to limit their purchases to 4 bags whenever possible to accommodate the needs of others.
If you miss your initial pick up or will miss the final trip, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION.
Please remember that the senior transportation program is an effort to improve the situation of our area senior citizens and cannot and should not be used as a taxi service or for emergency purposes. Every attempt will be made to define and accommodate the needs of the majority of our seniors. The senior transportation program is a work in progress and changes may be made as the program matures. Suggestions from riders are welcome.
